Deepening Our Knowledge of IslamIntroduction As an outcome of the 2004 General Chapter held in Rome, Italy, each province within our congregation was invited to respond to each Act of the Chapter given their particular culture and resources. These General Chapters convene every five years and address congregational as well as global issues facing the world today. Holy Name Province, one of the ten Provinces, has formed a committee of sisters and associates who have committed themselves to "Deepening Our Knowledge of Islam." This web site and accompanying links are just one way to share with you and others our journey to learn more about Islam through readings, online discussions, personal experiences, and workshops. We encourage you to journey with us as we deepen our knowledge and as we live non-violently with all of creation. We understand that this resource is a work in process and hopefully one that will be shared with those with whom we live and work. This collection of Islamic resources includes spiritual, literary, cultural, political, and historical works that provide a deeper understanding of Islam and of Muslims. As an evolving document, we invite all our sisters, associates, benefactors, family members, friends, and colleagues to add to our list by contacting Terri Miklitsch osf at tam24@buffalo.edu or any member of the committee. Thank you one and all! Descriptions of the texts are from Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, personal accounts, and other sources as noted.
